Social Media in the Time of Social Distancing: Protecting your Children, Tots to Teens

For the April 2021 walk, we welcomed Dr. Candice Fortunato who gave a brief, family-friendly talk on Social Media in the Time of Social Distancing:  Protecting your Children, Tots to Teens and then took parent questions live. Learn more on our Walk follow-up newsletter:  https://conta.cc/326jARS.

For nearly 5 years, the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Nevada AAP) has led in-person Walk with a Doc events to encourage families to learn about pediatric health topics and then go for a walk with doctors in our community. Starting in April 2020, the Nevada AAP temporarily changed our monthly in-person Walk with a Doc events for the Las Vegas and Reno communities into one, state-wide virtual event the second Sunday of every month.

In addition we've added a quarterly Camine con un Doctor for Spanish-speaking families. Visit that webpage to learn more.

Past English-language videos and post-walk newsletters can be viewed when you scroll down this page.

When you take a walk outside, wear sunscreen & take water. Socially distance at least 6 feet and everyone over 2 years old should wear a mask.

Walk with a Doc

Free and Kid Friendly

There are 100 reasons to walk!

Walk with a Doc (WWAD) was started in Columbus, Ohio in April of 2005 by Dr. David Sabgir and has now expanded throughout the world. With an aim to make hope and health accessible to all, WWAD doctor-led walking groups are a safe, fun, and FREE place to get some steps, learn about health, and meet new friends.

Starting in April 2020 and until further notice, our monthly Walk with a Doc events will be held virtually (you can also view the past videos above).

For the Las Vegas/Henderson community, the Nevada AAP leads free, kid-friendly Walk with a Doc events the second Sunday of every month. We meet October - May at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, but we move June - September to Mount Charleston to avoid the heat in the Las Vegas Valley.

The Nevada AAP is proud to lead free, kid-friendly Walk with a Doc events in Reno and Las Vegas.
