Thank you to those of you who joined us for Positive Parenting led by Dr. Rebecca Meyers on October 29, 2022 at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas. Special thanks also to our activity partner Get Outdoors Nevada who led our group on a walk and shared with us information about the incredible Neon to Nature Trails in Southern Nevada.
Although wildfire smoke threatened Reno air quality in the days leading up to our event, on the morning of September 18, the air cleared and we gathered for our hike at the magnificent Rancho San Rafael Regional Park! Before our hike, we listened to a great talk on Healthy Active Living for Families by Dr. Steven Shane. Our hike was led by Celia Walker, one of the wonderful Washoe County park rangers who lead many free events for Reno families.

Walk with a Doc (WWAD) was started in Columbus, Ohio in April of 2005 by Dr. David Sabgir and has now expanded throughout the world. With an aim to make hope and health accessible to all, WWAD doctor-led walking groups are a safe, fun, and FREE place to get some steps, learn about health, and meet new friends.
At this time, the Nevada AAP WALK WITH A DOC chapter does not have a venue or walking group partner. Interested groups are encouraged to contact Nevada AAP Executive Director Leann McAllister at ED@NevadaAAP.org.
Since 2016, the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Nevada AAP) has led in-person Walk with a Doc events to encourage families to learn about pediatric health topics and then go for a walk with doctors in our community.
Starting in April 2020, the Nevada AAP changed our monthly in-person Walk with a Doc events for the Las Vegas and Reno communities into one, state-wide virtual event the second Sunday of every month as we waited for COVID-19 vaccine for kids 6 months and older.
